Employability & Fitness

We recognize that the ability to find sustainable employment and keep motivated is only after basic life skills are formed. The ability to maintain physical fitness is well known to improve sleep patterns, affect concentration on the job, and form the basis of a healthy daily routine. A good understanding of nutrition, fitness, and taking care of yourself is often first stage to becoming employable.

Activities may include but not be limited to:

Life & Job Skills

  • Castle building
  • Building a CV
  • Mock job interviews
  • Trip to the bank & setting up an account
  • Basic money management
  • International trade computer simulator (Felixstowe only)


Fitness

  • Hands on nutrition workshops (protein shakes, sandwiches, etc)
  • Personal gym training tuition


In partnership with Suffolk College

  • Retail workshops
  • Hospitality workshops
  • Cooking/catering

General Information


Available qualifications

Improving Own Learning and Performance Level 1 and 2 are the most popular options that offer the greatest flexibility for personal development and practical tuition. Customer Service, Business Administration, and COAST (Commercial Overseas and Shipping Training) qualification options are also available on request.

Age, eligibilty and funding
Courses are available and can be tailored to suite any age and academic level. ESF Funding is available through ‘Youth East 2’ provision for 14 – 18 year olds. To apply for this funding, schools or students must demonstrate that they would benefit from this provision which may often be in addition to their mainstream provision as school/college.

What's next when I achieve
You may decide to use what you have learned and get focused back into school/college or progress to an apprenticeship. Work experience is available with a variety of event preparation and backstage roles at Fitness Britain. We’re always on the lookout for the next Teen Model, Fitness Britain Pageant, or Musclemania Champion and if competition is what you’re after, we are there to support you. Additional options are available through our training partners which we may discuss with you based on your personal interests.

Will I have to pay any additional costs?
Students/parents of any age are never required to pay course fees. Students of school age will apply through their school and most courses are funded for Norfolk, Suffolk, and Thurrock areas. To receive 100% government funding, candidates between the ages of 14-18 years of age who can demonstrate a need. Funding may also be available across Essex on request. Extreme residential and bespoke options may be subject to additional costs depending on geographical area and group size, however if applicable would be discussed prior to enrolment.
