Summary
The
modern definition of bodybuilding has evolved to include
anyone who is striving to develop the musculature of
their body through specific types of diet and physical
exercise, such as resistance training, especially for
competitive exhibition.
Following
London's successful bid to hold the 2012 Olympic games,
the UK education system realised that bodybuilding style
exercise, nutrition and elite mental techniques plays
an important part in helping young athletes to learn
the principles applicable to a multitude of Olympic
sports - including bodybuilding. To gain recognition,
it is essential for the committee to adopt these views
in relation to the sport. Organisations who set strict
rules and guidelines in the same way as gymnastics or
similar current Olympic events are playing an important
role in the transition of bodybuilding.
However,
the transition doesn't just happen. There is a need
for trainers, coaches, leaders, instructors and a wide
range of supporting staff. Given the nature of bodybuilding
dealing with eople's quality of life and well-being,
these staff need to be properly prepared and trained
to deal with a variety of situations from both a motivational
and physical viewpoint.
